HEAD BASKETBALL COACH

ATHENS HOOP DAWGZ PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL (ABA), ATHENS, GA

Reports to:   Ownership and General Manager

Position Summary:  The Head Basketball Coach is responsible for developing and maintaining a successful basketball program.   

Essential Responsibilities and duties:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Prepare an annual budget for the basketball team.
• Purchase equipment and uniforms as well as maintain accurate records of all purchases.
• Insure that all players meet ABA eligibility requirements.
• Develop a Fall and Spring schedule.
• Handle all travel arrangements for the team and recruiting.
• Host youth basketball camps in effort to make a strong presence within the community as well as teach and develop youth.
• Handle all recruiting as well as develop a strong recruitment plan.
• Provide all media and the ABA League with accurate statistics.
• Develop a solid plan to involve the players in the community in effort to strengthen public relations within the team.
• Develop and manage practice schedules as well as a weight training and fitness program.
• Travel and flexibility are essential in the Head Coach position.
• Responsible for handling sponsorships for the team.
• Ability to be proactive within the community as well as developing partnerships.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Minimum of three years experience as well as proven success
• Excellent communication, presentation, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as required as well as travel as needed.
• Excellent computer skills
• Ability to multi-task as well as prioritize duties.
• Flexibility with work schedule as well as travel.
