This may sound like a bold statement, considering they will have to defeat the Atlanta Braves and probably the Philadelphia Phillies. Just picture it now; Zack Greinke pitching Game 1 of the World Series. Given the home field advantage the National League won, he will be the Game 1 starter, as his record at home is a remarkable 10-0. Who can contend with that? They can also counter pitching with any team, as Yovani Gallardo and Shaun Marcum are All-Star caliber pitchers as well. During the playoffs, their starting rotation is better than every other team, excluding the Phillies. However, their bullpen and hitting gives them the edge over the Phillies.
Francisco Rodriguez is an above-average set-up man and John Axford already has 40 saves. He will end up with 50+ at season's end. Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder two of the best 10 hitters in the Majors, and the best 3-4 combo. Corey Hart has 21 home runs, and Nyjer Morgan is hitting over .300. Braun will have a 30-30 season and Fielder will have around 125 RBI at season's end. With the exception of short stop Yuniesky Betancourt and third baseman Casey McGehee, the Brew Crew has one of the best offenses in the league. Rickie Weeks will begin to rehab shortly, and Jerry Hairston Jr is a great utility player.
This is the Brewers year. They must win now, considering Fielder will be gone in the Winter. They have the tools to win the World Series. The only issue that I can see is if Phillies aces Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels execute their pitches perfectly. Given the Brewers line up, and the fact that the Phillies will start two lefties, Milwaukee hitters will not be tamed.
