As a plan administrator, you probably wear many hats. Getting a firm grip on one of them can help you keep them all in better balance. Join Smith & Howard EBP practice leader and Partner, Lori Wagnon, and special guest, Tom Maguire, Finance Director and Controller of Swift Currie, on October 29, 2020 to gain some tips on managing your fiduciary responsibilities, to learn how to strengthen and improve your organization’s employee benefit plan and to uncover best practices for making sure you’re surrounded with service providers who have the knowledge and commitment to support your role as a plan fiduciary.

Lori G. Wagnon, Partner, Benefit Plan Leader, Smith & Howard

Lori joined Smith & Howard in 1993 and is a Partner in the firm. A member of the Assurance Services group, Lori oversees audits of privately held businesses, including professional service firms, manufacturing, distribution, construction and insurance companies. She leads the firm’s Employee Benefit Plan (“EBP’”) audit team, which performs over 130 EBP audits each year, and is also a member of the firm’s Manufacturing/Distribution, Real Estate and Construction teams.  Lori received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Georgia State University. She is a member of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, which hosts annual conference training sessions on EBPs. Lori is also a member of Women in Pensions Network, Worldwide Employee Benefits (WEB) of Atlanta, Pension Education Council of Atlanta and the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries and Southeastern Benefits Education Network.

Thomas C. Maguire, Jr, Finance Director & Controller, Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers
Thomas C. Maguire, Jr., is an accomplished financial executive with a strong background in business operations. Excelling in strategic thinking, Tom has extensive hands-on leadership experience working with top corporations, law firms, start-ups and mid-cap businesses. Adept at partnering with the C-Suite to enhance revenue and profitability growth, Tom also collaborates with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives. With technical skills that include budgeting and forecasting as well as revenue and profit optimization, he has been responsible for financial oversight of operations and developing financial metrics modeling in previous positions and has gained a wealth of knowledge about financial management.  A nominee for the President's Club Award as an impactful business contributor and leader, Tom graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration from La Salle University. He spends time outside of work volunteering to provide support to families with children facing life-threatening illnesses and is involved with groups like The CFO Leadership Council and Pay It Forward Atlanta.
